Getting Ready for the Fair IV

This is the fourth post in the Fair Prep Series.

Once they have had a bath and blow dry, the animals are ready for a haircut. An electric clipper is used to trim unruly hair on their body, legs and face. We do not shave off all the hair, just trim up the areas where long hair would detract from the animals looking their best in the show ring.

Longer hair on their front shoulders and on their face are trimmed.

The sides of the tail are trimmed so that the natural muscling on the back haunches can easily be seen. Once the tail has been trimmed, long hairs along side are clipped into a smooth taper to match with the legs.
