Cleaning Up All That Corn

Man walking out of corn rows. This photo was taken well before the corn had tasseled out, it was quite a bit taller by the time the ears had developed.

Once we had harvested all the ears, the corn was chopped down and fed to the cows.

The corn is fed full length. The cows spend time flipping and flopping the stalks around before getting them to the right spot to start eating. It is not unusual to have a neighbor cow grab a stalk right out of the mouth of another.

It’s a nice treat to compliment the apples that we feed daily.

It’s quite a comical sight. The cows enjoy the clean up of all the garden produce, stems, stalks, fruit and vegetables.
