Cleaning up the broccoli

The broccoli has continued to produce most of the summer. Once the first large head was cut the smaller outside branches would send out small clumps of buds.

Even though they got smaller with each cutting, they were still delicious if I remembered to harvest them before they turned woody and went to the flower stage.

As you can see in the pictures, this broccoli is well past the stage that I could pick and use in the kitchen.

I pulled the plants from the dirt and loaded them into the garden cart and headed out to the barn.

The cows enjoy their fresh garden veggies in addition to their daily hay.
