The big stack of wood from the white fir that was cleaned out of the bull pen has been keeping me warm night and day.
Until now, the furnace has only needed to be stoked about once every 24 hours. The stack will go down quickly as the weather turns colder. Freezing weather means the furnace will need to be filled morning and night to keep fire burning and heat coming to the house.
When the temperature falls below zero, the furnace may need to be stoked twice during the night and twice during the day. Usually the weather is more temperate around here, but there have been occasions since we installed this furnace in 2007.
