As I was walking the bridge over the river to feed the cows one morning, I heard some rustling in the water below. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of an ocean-going salmon returning to spawn.
I focused the camera toward the noise and saw several shapes. The movement was about mid-picture toward the left bank. The salmon usually stay in the deeper channel as they work their way upstream.
Zooming in with the camera let me see just what the noise was all about.
Several pair of mallards had decided to take a winter river cruise. With all the flapping and splashing about, it sounded like they were having a pretty good time.
