Elk Visitors

It was the first day of Rifle Deer Season, we were out in the pasture feeding the main herd when we noticed a commotion coming down off the hill. There were five elk that had probably been spooked by hunters and they were heading down toward the river.

Group of five elk jumping into pasture.The big guy in the back had a good rack of horns. This picture was taken just as he was getting ready to jump the fence. Luckily, the group of five were not in too big of a hurry and jumped the fence instead of running right through it.

5 elk in pasture.It sure was fun to see them for the moments before they disappeared for the day down into the thick foliage of the river riparian zone.
