This is the view I had the opportunity to enjoy on a weekend get-away recently. We took a day to drive out the Columbia River Gorge and stopped at the famous Maryhill Museum that towers above the majestic Columbia as it flows toward the Pacific Ocean.
The beauty of the area was startling in the stark fall. The verdant grapes in the lower field a contrast to the dry grasses and rolling tumbleweeds on the busy highway.
The break away from the farm made me appreciate the year round green and the tall firs that encroach into each field, road and open area on the farm. The quiet of the county road far different from the busy Interstate 84.
Although I enjoy the chance to see other areas of the Pacific Northwest, I am always anxious to get back to the farm and am reminded who fortunate I am to be able to work and live on a piece of land that is so vibrant and healthy.
