Blueberries Bedded Down For The Winter

In the garden, I have a total of 8 blueberry bushes. Out of those 8, I think there are only 2 of them of the same variety. I even have 2 plants that do not lose their leaves and stay green year round.

A row of dormant blueberry bushes in the garden. This mixture is great for pollination, and it also means that the berries are available for a longer time because they ripen at slightly different schedules. But it also means that it is hard to get enough berries at any one time to fill a pie.

Now that the plants are dormant, I wanted to clean up their bed so that they will be cozy all winter. The extra care taken now will hopefully increase the yield next year so I will have extra berries for baking and for the freezer.
