For those who wonder how we like to cook Brussels sprouts they are a very simple and delicious addition to your meal.
The hardest part is the harvest, each sprout needs to be broken off the stalk. In order to be able to grasp the sprout the leaves need to be broken off first, then one by one the sprouts can be removed from the stem.
I soak the sprouts in lightly salted water to remove any baby slugs or other garden pests, this takes about 10 minutes. Then I slice each sprout into quarters for even cooking.
A large fry pan, with about 2 Tablespoons of olive oil needs to be heated to just before smoking stage. Then add the sliced sprouts, add garlic, onion and a pinch of ginger, lemon or lime. A quick stir fry is all that is needed. For those who like a little more spice add smoked paprika, pepper or Chinese Five Spice.
